The Mommy Break Project

Week #48 of 52: My Makeupper Mood Upper

Have you ever had a mommy break that was short enough but effective enough to brighten your mood.   This week’s mommy break was just that!  I had the pleasure of attending a private make up event at the Lincoln Park Benefit Cosmetics.  Although I made an earnest effort to invite my fellow mommy friends, no takers.  But that was no deterrent for me.  I worked a full day, picked up the kids from school, grabbed dinner at Epic Burger and hung out there to do the warm transfer with my husband.  Although, the week was exhausting and I would have been totally ok with going home and getting in bed, I pushed through because mentally and emotionally I needed a break.

When I arrived to the event, I was greeted by a nice intimate crowd, and Benefit Make Up Master Make Up Artist Jose Rivera giving a demonstration on how to create fabulous brows.  I volunteered to get my brows transformed and was AMAZED by his technique and skill as well as the product, “Goofproof” brows.  After I volunteered to be do my brows, you had the option of getting a service completed so I opted for a brow arch.  Immediately following the brow arch you were invited to participate in a makeupper.  I have definitely had the opportunity to test different products at the department store make up counter, but the Benefit Beauty Makeupper was a unique experience.  The make up artist took the time to ask me questions on what I am currently struggling with in the realm of make up and I shared that I usually go to work not looking that polished but also don’t want to go work looking like I am going to the club at 8AM!

My New "Everyday" Look

With the magic of face cream, a little foundation, this amazing eyeliner, I was transformed and discovered an awesome everyday look that achieved the goal of looking polished but not overly made up!  I purchased some must have products, leaving with a little pep in my step with nowhere to go (LOL), but that was ok.  Mission accomplished.  After a quick stop at Binny’s to pick up some “spirits” and wine for the weekend, I pull up to the garage, see that both of my children’ bedroom lights are on.  That’s a showstopper so I chose to stay in my car for a few extra minutes because I was not going to walk in with my children yelling for me to come give them hugs, kisses, water… yada yada yada. Overall, it was a great evening! I enjoyed my company!
